Queer, radical, librarian, Seattlite, bodhisattva, Jew, gadfly. You pick the order.
A brief history of this LJ. I started it late in 2003 just so I could spy on my adorable little sister
lethestarslaugh. But then she got wise to me and stopped posting. Then I kind of got addicted to memes, and then I got sucked into some interesting communities.
jelazakazone is my twin, or I'm hers, I suppose, depending on which way you look at it. Yes, we're monozygotic identical. I've met some very nice people, and am now attempting to share a little bit of myself in cyberspace. I'm not a very private person if you know me in real life, but I am not willing to put lots of my life online.
About friending: If you add me, please let me know, and tell me how you found me, too (if we haven't exchanged pleasantries :). Why not tell me your name while you're at it? :)
I have chronic tendonitis in my forearms (too much typing in my youth), so my entries tend to be short. Save the arms! Also, I lean toward the serious, and take most things at face value (mostly on the Internet) until I can get a feel for the tone.

For those of you who know and care about these things, my Enneagram type is 1, with a 9 wing. My Myers-Briggs is ENFJ/ENTJ.

"Flying Geese"
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about your despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting --
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

Dream of This
Marianne Williamson (often wrongly attributed to Nelson Mandela)
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our Light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves -- Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are we not to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people do not feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest the Glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us, it is in everyone.
And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fears, our presence automatically liberates others.

W.H. Murray - Until One Is Committed
Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation) there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too.
All sorts of things occur to help one that would not otherwise have occured. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favour all manner of unforseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man would have dreamed would come his way.
I have learned a deep respect for one of Goethe's couplets:
"Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it!
Boldness has genius, magic, and power in it."
*****
It takes courage to push yourself to places that you have never been before... to test your limits... to break through barriers. And the day came when the risk it took to remain tight inside the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.
-Anais Nin

I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't want to do that.

This stuff is simulacra of simulacra of simulacra. A diluted tincture of Ralph Lauren, who had himself diluted the glory days of Brooks Brothers, who themselves had stepped on the product of Jermyn Street and Savile Row, flavouring their ready-to-wear with liberal lashings of polo knit and regimental stripes. But Tommy surely is the null point, the black hole. There must be some Tommy Hilfiger event horizon, beyond which it is impossible to be more derivative, more removed from the source, more devoid of soul.
