I leave for Oberlin tomorrow night. Yes, that's right, I'm taking the red-eye. I hate the red-eye, but it was really my only option. I expect to be downright cranky Friday morning, but hopefully I will find a place to crash for a few. If not the Oberlin Inn, I know those colored module sofa thingies in Mudd are still around. They were always good for a nap ;-).
I got a tetanus shot in my left arm yesterday. It's more sore today. Apparently I forgot to move it while sleeping. Interestingly, moving it this morning seems to help ameliorate the pain.
OH! Here's the BIG NEWS. So, I am definitely reading for the Bent Mentor Showcase. I'll be "performing" on Saturday, October 14th. If you want tickets, please let me know. I have them for sale. $15 in advance/$17 at the door; $25 for both nights. I'm sure I'm leaving details out, so please ask questions :).

Attention. For those of you wondering where the hell I've been,
ubiquity75 has kidnapped me. We'll resume to our regular programming sometime. Thank you.
Hey
yix!
There is a little push pin icon showing next to entries now. Apparently you can now subscribe to an entry to get all the responses that are posted - just like you were talking about a couple of weeks ago! Cool :).

Apparently some of your lovely comments aren't getting emailed to me. :'(
Today is the 2-year anniversary of THIS JOURNAL. Wow.
I would like to have a discussion about Brokeback Mountain (the story) tomorrow. I posted a link to it here. Those of you who want to discuss it, make sure you have it read before tomorrow.
Thankee.

I'm still not receiving email notifications. I tried switching to hotmail, nada. I hadn't heard of anyone having problems with hotmail, but apparently I am. So, again, I am not ignoring you. Or maybe I am. *bwah ha haha*
I wasn't getting emailed responses to posts or comments today. If you think I was ignoring you, well, you might just be paranoid. Or you might be right. :P
Actually, I don't have any faith that the service is working again. So if I continue to ignore you, well, chalk it up to something else.

Bah. I fucking hate Christmas. No, actually, it's not Christmas, per se. It's all the commercial crap that goes on waaaay before Christmas. I mean, everyone knows when Christmas is. But somehow merchants feel this onus to remind us all the day after Halloween. I always feel bludgeoned by it. So if I appear grumpy until January, just refer back to this post.
I've been thinking about this for a while, and have come to the conclusion that LJ is an excellent place for me to practice traditional Buddhist non-attachment. When I first started posting, I didn't have any expectation that anyone would read and/or comment on my entries. They were inane, and mostly full of memes and quizzes and whatnot. Not much fun. Not terribly revealing about me.
Then I started meeting people, and wanting to impress all of you. I wanted you to LIKE me. Yeah, I was suffering from Sally Fields' disease. Who am I kidding, I still am. I would go through these cycles of feeling like no one loved me, because no one would comment on my entries. And then I was thrilled when someone would comment, and even more excited when someone wanted to add me as a "friend." I am still completely mystified about what it is that makes someone want to comment on certain entries and others not at all. I have figured out I just have to detach. You all have lives (shocking, I know!), and you are under no obligation to read let alone comment on any of my entries.
I really don't like that LJ decided that the people whose journals I read are friends or that I am a friend; I like to decide who is a friend and who isn't. This is not to say that I don't find you all excellent people who I enjoy tremendously.
I have decided for my own peace of mind to use different labels going forward. I will think of you all as voyeurs. Feel free to think of me the same way. After all, isn't that really what the Internet is all about?

I just found out the Pulp Vixens are baaaack! I am so excited, I can't even tell you. This completely lifts me out of my swampy morass I was wallowing in yesterday.
kasmo_sez - why didn't you tell me they were coming to Theater Off Jackson? Oh boy oh boy oh boy - I can hardly wait. I <3 Jennifer Jasper, but don't tell my girlfriend ;-).

Hey Seattle folk,
I was perusing The Stranger last night and discovered that Brown Derby is doing another series. They are going to do Footloose next week, and I am definitely going.
From The Rebar's website:
COMING SOON... AUGUST 15TH-17TH BROWN DERBY IS BAAACK!!
Brown Derby's performances are seriously some of the best that we have ever had at Re-bar! Ian Bell is the grand master behind this event, and he's a wizard, folks. I am serious! Brown Derby take the worst movie scripts possible and act em out. They are gonna bring us an all-new series of performances, starting in August and continuing every other month- their shows are only on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays for one week- only 3 chances to see their work!
In August, come and experience the brilliance that is "FOOTLOOSE"!! The dates are Monday the 15th, Tuesday the 16th, and Wednesday the 17th. Doors at 7pm, show at 8pm, no reservations,$10 GET HERE EARLY!
Nick Garrison is one of the cast members. If you haven't seen him, I HIGHLY recommend scooting your asses down here to see it. Apparently the other movies in the series include: Flashdance, Fame, and some other musical that I can't remember right now.
